What’s the best (and cheapest) way to build an author’s platform?
My goal is to develop an author’s platform wide enough to interest a book publisher in the coming year. Right now, I’m a local, small-town pastor and a frequent online writer. I have two major websites…

How do I increase visits/hits to my sites? And how can I expand my name recognition on subjects of Christianity, history, etc.?

p.s. I’ve read a lot of advice on this from folks like Bob Bly, Dottie Walters, etc., but most of it is geared toward BUSINESS professionals. I’m more a liberal arts guy – someone who plays in the religion and politics sandboxes. There’s not a lot of advice out there for aspiring authors in those areas.
