Any ideas to encourage cats to use the litterbox?
I have 4 cats and 3 litterboxes. I plan on getting a 4th one tonight, because the cats fill the other ones up within 3 days and then go to the bathroom on anything they find. I can’t keep up with their urine/fecal cycle and I certainly don’t want to have to clean 4 litterboxes every couple of days. I’ve tried feeding them more expensive food in the hopes they won’t go as often, but that didn’t make a difference. I need to get 2 of them fixed so they won’t spray on the carpet anymore, but even the ones that are fixed go on the carpet, the furniture, clothes, pretty much anywhere they like. I would give them away if it weren’t for my wife (they’re hers), and now she can’t clean up after them anymore because she’s pregnant. I am at my wits end and I can’t go on having my house smell the way it does, especially with a baby on the way. I am almost ready to build a giant 6′ x 8′ sandbox in the basement and fill it with litter just for them to go in, if that would work. Please help me.
