Want to purchase a home and working on my credit, what are my chances?

I currently a renter. I am also in school f/t and work 30 hrs per week in banking. I am in school for paralegal studies. I plan to get a job within banking as a retail banking paralegal. I see the postings in my company, they pay around $75,000 to $80,000 to start. My fiance makes about $35,000 salary. We live in Quincy, MA. I would like to purchase a decent home sooner rather than later, while they are somewhat cheaper! I mean, this should happen by next summer I should say. I had some credit issues before because I started a job, then ended up pregnant, and my doctor put me out of work, and i did not qualif for leave of absence. My credit cards got a little backed up, but I have caught up and paid them down. I plan to pay them off completely when I get my tax return. To be honest, I do not owe a lot. Between the two it’s only about $900.00. Because I am out of work, $900 is hard to come by, but I’ve paid them down. I know that I should still use them, but just not max them out! I also have a phone company i owed money to, and a couple of other minor things. I mena it’s all minor things, but they still matter! I have an auto loan that I have never defaulted on, and some other good stuff. I am going back to work this June, so I should be okay!! I got a copy of my credit report, and found everone I needed to pay, and organized alist, so that I can pay them! My total debt is probably $2500. Not too bad. If I can clear this up this February, then maybe take a collateral loan at my local credit union, will that help boost my score? I really want to purchase a home!!!Help.. Some advice please.. Do you have to be at the same job for 2 years? What else do they look for. Perfect credit or improvement?
