Recording Episodes of The Office Off My DVR?
Have a Time-Warner issued DVR with my system. When looking at a recorded program, one option is “Copy to VCR.”
I bought a DVD recorder, and copied a few old shows (Twilight Zone, Leave it to Beaver, Home Improvement) to DVD without problem (part of a work project – don’t diss me for that!).
However, I tried to record to DVD an episode of The Office (US version). About 15 minutes in, during a commercial break, a message came up that said, “Cannot record copyrighted material” or some such message. The recording stopped.
Odd that it let me record up to 14 minutes worth, and that it stopped in the middle of a Pizza Hut commercial. And it didn’t stop at precisely 15:00, but at something odd like 14:23.
Any suggestions on what may be happening here? If it’s not legal to record these, that’s cool. I’m not asking for workarounds or cheats, but want to know what’s happening.
