PowerJack 1200w Solar Grid Tie Inverter in cabinet outside.

Since I don’t fully trust these things not to burn my house down, I decided the best course of action was to mount the inverter into a weatherproof steel cabinet and mount the entire setup outside (under cover). At present I have 600w (16A @ 37v) worth of solar panels running on this device. 600w is actually about the maximum I would put through this GTI. The inbuilt cooling fan starts up when running more than about 450w and the case gets quite warm even at this relatively low power level. The inverter has been modified with an internally fitted Solid State Relay that shuts the AC off at night. If the unit is not shut down, it draws 20w of power from the grid which adds up to quite a lot of power over a long winters night. I also have fitted a EMI filtered, IEC socket to the AC output to reduce local radio interference. The diecast box at the top contains a DC EMI filter to prevent radio interference/hash from being radiated by the solar panel wiring.
